Frequently Asked Questions

We’d love to be your partner on the journey to vibrant health. Here are the questions we hear most — about visits, costs, insurance, and how care actually works. Anything else, just ask.

The basics

Getting started

Is a naturopathic doctor a real doctor?

A licensed naturopathic doctor (ND or NMD) completes a four-year, in-residence doctoral program at an accredited naturopathic medical school, sits national board examinations, and holds a state license. Dr. Dramov earned his naturopathic doctorate at Bastyr University after a microbiology degree at Washington State University, and is licensed in Arizona, California and Oregon. Scope of practice is set by each state: Arizona licenses naturopathic physicians through the Arizona Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board, and Oregon licenses them through the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine, which recognizes NDs as primary-care providers. A naturopathic doctor is not the same as a conventionally trained MD or DO, and we work alongside your other physicians rather than replacing them.

Is the discovery call really free?

Yes. Every patient relationship starts with a free, 15-minute discovery call — your symptoms, your goals, and an honest answer about whether we're the right fit. There's no pressure and no obligation.

What happens at the initial appointment, and what does it cost?

Your first appointment is an in-depth, 60-minute visit. Dr. Dramov carefully reviews your medical history, discusses your symptoms and goals, performs any needed physical exams, and maps out which lab tests make sense. The initial appointment is $397, and any additional costs are disclosed up front before testing is ordered.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed — start with the free discovery call and we'll take it from there.

Can my visits be virtual?

If you are not an in-state resident, your initial visit must be in person. After the first visit, follow-ups can be conducted by phone or securely by video if you choose. Dr. Dramov is licensed in Arizona, California, and Oregon.

Can I email the team between visits?

Yes — patients have email access to our provider team. If a question is too involved to answer safely by email, we may ask you to schedule a phone, telemedicine, or in-person visit instead.

Visits & cancellations

Scheduling & policies

What are your office hours?

Monday through Thursday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, and Friday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (by appointment), at both our Arizona and Oregon clinics.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all appointments. Canceling within 24 hours results in a $50 charge to the card on file; missing an appointment without notice (a no-show) results in a $100 charge. Rescheduling ahead of time through the patient portal avoids both.

Costs & coverage

Billing & insurance

Do you take insurance?

We are not in-network with any insurance plan and do not bill insurance companies directly. We provide a detailed billing summary that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan's rules.

Are lab tests covered by insurance?

Most standard lab tests ordered by our physicians are billed directly to your insurance by the lab itself. Some specialty functional-medicine tests may not be covered — in those cases you'll know the fee before anything is ordered, and you're never obligated to purchase specialty testing. If your insurance requires a specific lab facility (such as LabCorp), let us know before your blood work.

Can you replace my primary care physician?

For many patients we can function as their main doctor — including handling acute needs like a prescription for a minor infection. Two honest caveats: we don't fulfill an insurance company's requirement for an in-network PCP, and we don't operate a 24-hour answering service. For urgent or emergency care, you would still visit an ER or urgent care center.

How much does hormone therapy cost?

Less than most people expect. When hormone therapy is part of your plan, we use compounding options with free delivery starting from as little as $40 per month — and we walk you through expected costs before anything is prescribed.

What to expect

Care & treatment

What conditions do you treat?

Our focus is hormone, thyroid, and adrenal health — menopause, perimenopause, andropause, PCOS, PMS, Hashimoto's disease, thyroid imbalances, adrenal dysfunction, and chronic fatigue — plus digestive issues, autoimmune conditions, and metabolic concerns. See the full list on our conditions page.

How soon will I feel better?

Many people begin noticing changes within the first few weeks, though timelines vary with your starting labs and the therapies involved. We recommend giving your program six months for the full benefit of root-cause care.

What makes your approach different?

Three things: time (a 60-minute first visit, not seven minutes), testing (comprehensive panels interpreted against optimal ranges, timed to your cycle when relevant), and monitoring (follow-up labs verify your plan is working). Treatment is matched to your results — never a template.
